Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. Protein is the most important nutrient that the body needs for building and repairing tissues. The human body uses proteins in the form of proteins and amino acids for many functions such as energy production, immune function, muscle function, and growth. There are 4 separate classes of amino acids: arginine, cysteine, glutamine, and lysine. The other two types of amino acids are usually found together in peptide and pro-drug formulations used in medicine.

Any of an amino group, any single of the six amino acids, aluronic acid, an amino sugar, or one of several other non-protein molecules which together make up a polypeptide are called peptides. Peptides can be composed of single amino acids, pro-amines, arginine, cysteine, glutamine, or others. The word amino acids is short for -amine [alpha-amine] carboxylic acid.

L-Arginine As the Most Popular Types Of Amino Acids

One of the most popular types of amino acids is L-Arginine. It is also called L-glutamic acid and the chemical name is L-lysine. Arginine has been discovered around the 1970’s. By isolating and testing the effects of arginine on microorganisms, scientists discovered it had a healing effect on bacteria and yeast. Because of its ability to enhance the growth and health of microorganisms, researchers named the amino group of L-Arginine arginoloyl acid and the compound was subsequently marketed as L-lysine.

One of the other common amino acids is Glycine. Like L-Arginine, Glycine also occurs naturally in proteins and is useful in the synthesis of proteins and other compounds. Glycine, like L-Arginine, is synthesized by the action of an enzyme called Glycine transamine. It is also used in many chemical reactions and is considered a good food supplement.

The last amino acids in the amino acids family are L-Cysteine, L-Glutamic acid and L-Arginine. These three acids are also grouped in a general order of their structural formulas. Their sequences are similar to those of the basic amino acids and they are also capable of being conjugated, or joined, with other chemicals for the purpose of producing different types of compounds. They are, however, far from being the most important of all the amino acids and they are rarely used in chemical reactions.

So What Constitutes “Boulder”?

Among the amino acids, the L-group is the most important because it contains a neutral element, Glutamic acid, that helps in the synthesis of proteins. This is why L-Lysine and L-Arginine are added to nutritional supplements to promote muscle growth. Other examples of L-groups are L-Methionine, L-Cysteine and L-Glutamic acid. There is some evidence that L-Glutamic acid may prevent diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. However, more studies must be conducted before these claims can be validated.

A good supplement must also contain some B-group amino acids. These are known to support the normal functioning of the immune system. The B-group amino acids act as antioxidants, which help remove free radicals from the body. Moreover, B-group amino acids are very important for a person’s mental well-being, which explains why B-group amino acids are being added to a number of supplements today.
